Ridge Street Audio (RSA) Speaker / Cable Demonstration

Robert of RSA has very kindly offered to present and demonstrate his new speaker product along with cables, to the NEWAS group at the above date.

Non members are invited to attend the demo, though we need confirmation of numbers in advance. If you are not a member of NEWAS, and wish to attend, please email me here

Thanks -

Carl

Below is more information on the meeting format, copied from an email sent by Robert:

First, We would like to come in Friday late afternoon before the event on Saturday. We could stay at a local sleep over dive like "Slug's Sleep Over and Gas" or, since you're our contact, we could spend the night at your place. Either way is fine. It will probably be just Steve and I. Unless you folks have a dedicated meeting place that suits you well acoustically by then, I might suggest your place for the meeting. Judging from your system photos on A'gon and the NEW website, your place looks very accommodating which, by the way, I had seen your images on A'gon like last Thursday I think it was. What a Coincidence...! If we came in on Friday, we could spend some time just playing some music and hangin' and then set up for Saturday later in the evening. I think that would be fun. What do you think?

Mean time, you've already read quite a bit about our cables I'm assuming but you know nothing about the Sason Ltd. To build some excitement, here's some misc. stuff that might give a sense of these loudspeakers:

My post to a recent inquiry:

....Enter Sason Ltd.
Definition: Sason originates from the Hebrew language and when expressed as a verb, it is the act of rejoicing expressed in dance. When one reaches the epitome of joy, his moment of ecstasy is referred to as sason, whose root is sas which in Kabbalah is considered to be the sixth emotion of the heart

After the debut of our Sason Ltd loudspeaker up North of Detroit this past weekend, I can confidently and enthusiastically recommend this loudspeaker as a viable product from RSAD. I'm very excited about what this MoFo can do. I'm not just saying this 'cause but this freakin' thing is awesome! The Sason Ltd loudspeaker is a project that Steve Rothermel, my long time best friend, audio mentor and now associate to RSAD, and I have collaborated on. It's mainly Steve's baby and it's taken about two years to complete. It's in Lak's system right now after debuting at Hiderfest up in Detroit, MI area this past weekend. From Lak's (Ohio) it's coming back into this neck of the woods and going into a few ultra high end systems for auditioning. In Feb. or March it will be presented, along with our Poiema!! Signature cables, at the Chicago Audio Society. Here's a link you might enjoy and below that, the host of Hiderfest's comments to another enthusiast. Link:

http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?p=117728&highlight=#117728 (The pic's on my post are really not very good and don't do any justice for the speakers. Just to see them is to want them! 135 lbs each of granite cabs with 4" thick proprietary sculpted Roth Board baffle, State Of The Art cross-over components and drivers sourced from the very talented and renown Danes. BTW, we will have an appropriate stand soon fabricated from granite and Corian.)

Hey Rob (Curtis / aka Marbles (ed.) )!

Just got back from a crazy day trying to catch up in the real world. Here's
an encapsulation of what we found during the Audiofest:

Steve's new speaker is probably the best monitor that I have ever heard.
Everyone to a person was impressed with the soundstaging and detail his
speaker could produce. I think it may capture inner space better than any
full ranger that I have ever heard. The tweeter needs more time on it but it
got sweeter every hour of every moment it was on. To me it basically sounds
like a coherent soundfield in-between and behind the speakers where you
cannot identify that there is more than one driver trying to reproduce the
entire sound spectrum! In terms of bass, you don't find yourself really
criticizing these speakers for being less than full range either. They sound
as if they must play into the low thirties without any drop off whatsoever.
More importantly, the midrange is so seductive that I really don't miss
that they cannot play into the twenty hertz range. For people looking
into monitors, these may be one of the best ever manufactured IMHO at any
price regardless of technology, etc....

Features Overview

Sason Ltd Loudspeaker

By

Ridge Street Audio Designs

Oct. 2004

·         Custom premium 6.5-inch Kevlar™ midwoofer sourced from Denmark with specially modified motor structure. Driver pairs matched to within .5 db.

·         Custom premium 1-inch coated silk dome tweeter sourced from Denmark. Specialized motor structure and modified rear damping chamber. Driver pairs matched to within .5 db.

·         Computer Aided Design cabinet. Genuine handcrafted granite. Wall thickness 1.25 inch and damped. (Each speaker weighs approx. 140 lbs).

  • Modified QB3 alignment. Bass alignment: Forced laminar-flow vent and adjustable vent Q-factor for room acoustics, amplifier compatibility with ultimate user adjustability.

·         Hardwired crossover to speaker drivers is “direct wired” using Ridge Street Audio Designs ExLGII™ silver optimized custom CordLess Cable™ technology wire harness.

·         Pure Connect Direct™ speaker terminals. The ultimate signal transmission uninterrupted from speaker to amplifier cable. Virtually zero signal loss. Eliminates speaker binding posts and their accompanying signal degrading conduction between the crossovers to speaker cable interface.

·         Proprietary resonance-free RothBoard™ front baffle; 4 inches thick and special rear cavity contour Computer Numerical Control milled along the rear of the midwoofer to eliminate “cavity resonance”. Isolated and damped tweeter chamber to eliminate acoustical vibration from the internal enclosure air movement.

·         Isolated, concealed crossover chamber to eliminate microphonics in crossover components due to acoustical vibration from the internal enclosure air movement.

·         Computer Aided Design transfer function in crossover. State of the Art componentry. Acoustically tuned by ear. Loudspeaker crossover pairs trimmed and matched to within .1 percent. Proprietary circuit treatment. Acoustical and symmetrical 3rd-order slopes for ultimate distortion-free musicality.

·         Crossover circuitry components are “point to point direct wired”. Eliminates the typical circuit board and its losses for optimum signal transmission integrity between components.

·         Custom air core crossover inductors utilizing “low-tension drawn” construction and 10-AWG high purity copper inductors. Proprietary inductor sealing minimizes dielectric interaction.

·         Custom film-and-foil crossover capacitors. No metalized-film capacitors in the signal path. The ultimate in signal transfer for not only the tweeter network to tweeter driver interface but also for woofer damping. The ultimate for engaging musicality.

·         State of the art resistive elements. Ultra low inductance for virtually zero ringing and ultra low TCR for linear stability. No sand-cast or typical wire-wound resistors.

·         Bi-wire crossover architecture for ultimate undistorted signal transfer from source signal to the drivers.

·         Premium deep gloss automotive level front face lacquer paint finishes. Proprietary clear coated for resonance control. Optional colors can be user specified.

·         High mass polished brass cone points for mounting to stands and adjustable cabinet tilt-back angle to achieve exacting image control of musical soundstage.

·         Profiled front face for eliminating typical box shape sound wave diffraction on the listening axis and off axis (room response).

  • Optimized tilt-back shape front baffle for proper time alignment between ear, tweeter and midwoofer.
Anyway, all this Carl. Look forward to hearing back from you when you have some time to post. Till then...

Sincerely and Best Regards,
Robert C. Schult / Proprietor, Designer
